@everyone: Poll: Censoring in yEAh Games
A new debate has arisen recently, especially during the election season, and has been the topic of discussion among many members, as yEAh Election candidate @Danté (Aidan) has pointed out; that topic is censorship in this server.
As many of you probably know, certain terminology (e.g., 'bruh,' 'sus,' 'among us,' etc.) is banned from use in the server, and every time a message is posted containing that trigger-word, @yEAh will delete it and send a warning. This warning states that using this terminology could result in further moderation action being taken against the sender — this has never happened and likely never will, as using banned terminology has become a 'staple' of yEAh Games culture. Essentially, saying the words is not actually a bad thing — everyone bypasses it anyways, including moderators — but is still something 'funny' to have implemented.
Obviously, these terms are not actually problematic, but instead are subtle reminders of yEAh Games' past — with certain inside jokes relating to words. The censoring by the bot has frustrated many members, but is also still upholding the 'culture' relating to the 'banned' terminology.
This system not only delete the message sent, which can frustrate the sender as it can delete other important stuff as well, but also sends a, quote-on-quote, 'annoying message' that can fill up a lot of the channel. Along with this, the censoring on the bot is quite broken and can often end up deleting a message containing something not even intended to be that illegal terminology (e.g., 'suspension), because it uses a relatively simple function that deletes anything containing that letter combination.
This is a controversial subject, with numerous candidates proposing to end this if they were elected in the elections. Now that @Binh (for sale) has been reelected, this referendum is being issued to find the popular opinion among members.
